I am thrilled to share that I recently had the honor of wrapping up a major art commission for a technology company in Silicon Valley. This work was developed over the course of 5 months, going from conceptualization, through multiple phases of prototyping, on to the final piece. This was also by far the largest piece I have worked on… comprising a total of 8ft by 2ft across multiple segments. ⠀

A major part of my creative process these past two years has been centered around developing a personal vocabulary (conceptual, motile, visual, etc) based on the universal ideas enshrined in the “Planetary Archetypes”. In this project, the archetypal themes that we discussed included Saturn (rigidity and wisdom), Neptune (fluidity and mysticism), and Pluto (intensity and power)… and reading between the lines I figured that Uranus (innovation and genius) would be quite meaningful for a technology company as well. This work would not have been possible without establishing empathy for the unique moment within time that this work was being created.

Here is a video time lapse that captures a few hours of the actual painting (which ended up going on for a week), as well as a few pictures of behind the scenes. My tremendous gratitude to Zymr, Haresh and Ashok, for commissioning this work.
